Amanda Jeannette Detmer (born September 27, 1971) is an American actress who has appeared in various films and television shows.
Detmer was born and raised in Chico, California to Susan, a reading teacher, and Melvin Detmer, a singing cowboy. She attended California State University, Chico for her undergraduate education; deciding to complete her Master of Fine Arts from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts before seriously embarking on a career in show business.
She made her onscreen debut in 1995 with the television movie Stolen Innocence, and her big screen debut playing Miss Minneapolis in the beauty pageant-set comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous. She has also made notable film appearances in Final Destination, Saving Silverman, The Majestic and Big Fat Liar. In television, she also appeared in the 2006 made-for-TV movie Proof of Lies and the ABC 2006-2007 drama serie.
See, the title of this post is, “What About Amanda Detmer”, because Amanda used to be on the TV show “What About Brian?” Get it? Because — oh, nevermind. And don’t waste your time looking for “What About Brian”, it’s been canceled, and thank Goodness. What a piece of crap show.
With “Brian” dead and buried, Amanda has moved on to “1321 Clover”, and she’s got something called “Making It Legal” in 2008. I think that’s about pot legalization, but don’t hold me to it. And when I say “don’t hold me to it”, I mean “it’s probably crap, and I’m just making it up as I go”.
