Batman sequel The Dark Knight clutched a handful of prizes to steal the show at the 35th annual People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, Jan. 7.

The action film claimed Favorite Superhero, Favorite Movie, Favorite Onscreen Match-Up, Favorite Action Movie and Favorite Cast at the climax of the event. See below...

Batman Christian Bale and co-star Aaron Eckhart and director Christopher Nolan were given a lengthy standing ovation as they took to the stage at the Shrine Auditorium, and then Bale remembered his Joker, Heath Ledger, in his brief acceptance speech.
He said, "Here's to Heath," as he raised one of the awards the cast and crew were presented with to the heavens. See below...

Queen Latifah, who hosted the event, was stunned when her film The Secret Life of Bees won the Favorite Film (Drama) award, while Wall-E was named Favorite Family Movie and 27 Dresses claimed the night's Favorite Film (Comedy) prize.

In the TV categories, Two & A Half Men was named Favorite TV Comedy, while medical show House picked up the Favorite TV Drama honor. See at last...

Christian Charles Philip Bale (born 30 January 1974) is a Welsh-born English actor whose film credits include Empire of the Sun, American Psycho, 3:10 To Yuma, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and the upcoming film Terminator Salvation, where he will play the role of John Connor. Bale is known for his mastery of accents and harsh regimens of shedding and gaining weight (particularly for The Machinist, Batman Begins and Rescue Dawn). In addition to starring roles, such as Batman, in big budget Hollywood films, he has long been heavily involved in independent and art house films.
